Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) plays a crucial role in Ethiopia's development! This field provides the skilled engineers needed for sectors like energy, communication, industry, and commerce. Our graduates hold diverse jobs across the country, involved in tasks like installation, design, testing, research, and sales of electrical devices and systems. You'll find them at prominent organizations like Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation, Ethiopian Telecommunications Corporation, Ethiopian Airlines, and many others.
Our department prioritizes three specializations in the undergraduate program:
Communication Engineering: focused on designing and building communication systems (e.g., phone networks, internet infrastructure).
Power Systems Engineering: focused on generating, transmitting, and distributing electricity efficiently.
Control Engineering: focused on designing systems that automatically control devices and processes (e.g., robots, power plants).
Our postgraduate program offers two specializations:
Communication Engineering: deepening your expertise in communication systems.
Power Systems Engineering: specializing in designing and managing complex power systems.
Vision
We aspire to be a national leader in ECE education, research, and industry collaboration. We aim to train competent engineers who solve Ethiopia's challenges and drive growth. This requires focusing on relevant specializations like Electronic Communication, Electrical Power, Computer, Industrial Control, and Microelectronics. We envision upgrading to a faculty level with dedicated departments for each discipline. Achieving this vision requires the dedication of faculty, staff, students, and collaboration with various stakeholders.

We prepare young men and women for successful careers at the forefront of 21st-century engineering. We conduct research and partner with industries to advance ECE education.
